We offer insulated glass replacement, both in and out of warranty, for wood, vinyl and clad windows.
Insulated glass is manufactured with a dead air space between the panes of glass and sealed around the edges as a single unit. When this seal is broken, moisture and air are allowed to enter the dead air space. This failure results in the most common type of glass problem, "seal failure" which can make your glass appear fogged or dirty between the panes.
"Low E" refers to a coating that filters out damaging sunlight and helps protect your floors and furniture from fading. After-market tinting film is also available; however, this application voids the manufacturer's glass warranty. Most tinting manufacturers offer some warranty against seal failure.
Glass can be manufactured with the look of a single piece of glass or with grills to give the look of divided lites.
Most of our glass is custom made locally to fit your exact sash size and glass thickness. While most sealed glass units can be easily replaced without disturbing your sash, some windows are manufactured in a way that prevents interchanging of glass and require a new sash unit rather than glass alone.
Most glass manufactured prior to 1990 had a 5 to 10 year warranty from the manufacturer against seal failure. Today, most warranties cover seal failure for 10 to 20 years. Generally speaking, glass breakage is not covered under warranty. Most manufacturers will ship the replacement glass at no or little cost, if covered under warranty; however, they do not cover the cost of installation.
We work with many manufacturers and directly with the homeowner to determine if your glass is covered under warranty. If so, we will work with your manufacturer to obtain and install your replacement glass. We also replace insulated glass where the warranty has expired or breakage has occurred.
