Vinyl, PVC, plastic...is an absolutely useless chemical by itself. There are hundreds of additives available that are mixed with PVC to make the composite vinyl window.  Wood is even an additive for one of the top volume manufactures in making their vinyl composite product.   Add 30% wood to 65% vinyl and charge double what the same performing vinyl without wood fiber would cost, just because of a brand name.

The key to long term durability with vinyl is the additives used to reduce degradation from the sun, whiteners that keep the vinyl from turning yellow, stabilizers to reduce expansion and contraction and the better "recipes" are only found in the highest quality vinyl compounds. Vinyl is a thermo-plastic compound adversely affected by heat. On a 90 degree day the window may be 120 on the outside, molecular movement, irreversible deformation, year after year and a few years go by and no warranty covers air infiltration, they can leak. Maybe more than what you replaced.
