Traditional wood enthusiasts desire the touch and feel of real wood. The elegance of rich, warm wood products are available in several species from Pine, Alder, Douglas fir to Mahogany, Cherry and other exotic woods. Within many Kentucky or Indiana historical districts, wood or clad wood windows are mandatory, so be sure to check for your local codes.

Wood window manufacturers typically offer many options in terms of styles, sizes, colors & glass.  A few decades ago, manufacturers began “cladding” the exterior of wood windows to make them lower maintenance and help them to last longer, given the changes in paints and preservatives.  Cladding can be in the form of different materials, such as Aluminum, Fiberglass and even extruded Vinyl.

It is important to note however, that all claddings are not the same.  For instance, many manufacturers use roll-form aluminum rather than an extruded aluminum.  Roll-form aluminum is much thinner and can often allow water to penetrate under the metal and rot out the wood underneath.  In addition, the painted finish of roll-form aluminum is not as durable and tends to chalk or fade at a much faster rate.  At Weber Windows, we highly recommend using extruded aluminum clad wood products over roll-form, however fiberglass clad wood is quickly becoming an even more popular choice due to its durability and strength.

Weber Windows is proud to feature the Lincoln Windows brand of wood and extruded aluminum clad wood windows.  Lincoln’s double hung window is available with the lowest air infiltration off all wood clad windows.  We also offer the Peachtree brand fiberglass clad and extruded vinyl clad windows for superior energy efficiency with their patented Zo-e-glass line.
